A Weekend at Hay Castle Craft Fair

A Weekend at Hay Castle Craft Fair

Last weekend was my first time exhibiting at Hay Castle Craft Fair, and what a wonderful weekend it was. The bank holiday arrived with the hottest May weather on record, and the town was absolutely buzzing with visitors enjoying everything the area has to offer. With the Black Mountains looking particularly beautiful in the sunshine, it felt like the perfect setting for such a thoughtfully curated event.

Hay Festival was also in full swing, which added such a lovely atmosphere to the town. It was wonderful speaking to visitors about their experience of the festival so far and hearing who had inspired them most.

The fair itself was exceptionally well organised, and the location within Hay Castle could not have been more fitting. Having previously lived and worked in the area, it was very special to return and spend time there again.

I felt incredibly proud of my stall and the collection of handprinted pieces I brought with me. One of the most rewarding parts of events like this is the opportunity to meet people face to face — to talk about the work, share the process behind it, and build genuine connections. Thank you to everyone who stopped to look, took a card, or chose to take a piece home with them. It really does mean so much to small independent makers.

The standard of work across the fair was outstanding, and I felt genuinely honoured to exhibit alongside such talented artists and makers. A very inspiring weekend all round.
